The exhibition-installation "Heartburn" is dedicated to an artist reflecting on himself first. A series of endless exhibition projects, often unarticulated, fills the Moscow art space with a dense stream of one-day gestures and curatorial statements: an artist, as an independent creative unit, risks getting lost in this bacchanalian rhythm and his personal voice often becomes unheard. The desire to integrate into the mainstream, active participation in all kinds of exhibitions, attempts to be everywhere at the same time characterize a contemporary artist, his activity turns into content, content for one or another project. Fatigue, frequent lack of feedback multiply this frustrated state when an artist reaches the stage of Superman, abstract away from his own personality analyzing what is wrong and why it is happening, and most importantly how he can influence the situation at least at the local level?
Often there is no answer. But the question itself helps us to understand ourselves and our role in the overall artistic cacophony!
The original idea of the exhibition was a very straightforward idea to do a project called "F@cking exhibition" but having considered the name too literal we refused this naming and in a collective dispute the name "Heartburn" was born, that is the quintessence of our feelings from participating in the actual artistic process.
